Here at Disrupt magazine we want to bring to light stories to inspire, motivate and disrupt your way of thinking so you can act and start disrupting whatever industry you choose to enter. Today we have one of those Disrupters with us. Moe Rock the Publisher of The Los Angeles Tribune and Author of the book “Lead by Example” is joining us to discuss what it means to disrupt an industry in today’s landscape. Forbes International did a feature on him last year calling him the “Media Maverick” and today we are finding out why.

Disrupt: Thank you for joining us today Moe

Moe Rock: My pleasure to be here thank you to you and Disrupt Magazine.

Disrupt: Right now there are a lot of changes happening in the world. The pandemic has affected every industry – in your point of view what are ways Entrepreneurs reading this now can use this time to advance and progress as opposed to suffer and go backwards?

Moe Rock: Well historically there has always been a large resurgence economically speaking whenever there has been turbulence. I believe in many respects we have been overdue for a global financial reset and I don’t believe the worst is behind us from a global economical standpoint. So I would encourage people to educate themselves on globalism and economics so they are not blindsided by what is to come in the near future. Additionally, from a personal standpoint I would encourage people to always have a fluid mindset that assumes formlessness. Do not be a one trick pony and count on ways of the past to work for you in the new world order regardless of how successful you have been.

Disrupt: There may be people reading this who want some advice outside of mindset or studying economics generally – many of our readers are aspiring entrepreneurs looking to start a business. What would you be able to provide them as far as tangible steps to take right away?

Moe Rock: Well I think right there is the problem. There is a general lack of patience with a lot of aspiring entrepreneurs who are being misled by mirages on social media. The truth is if you want to build a long lasting legacy there will be a gestation period – So my advice of studying world economics and having the right mindset would be the most tangible steps to build a legacy. As far as short term, quick things a person can do what I would suggest is that the aspiring entrepreneur could begin by producing educational content. This could be in the form of a podcast, youtube channel etc. And interview guests and people that you and your audience can learn from. This will not only help you grow a tribe but it will help you build long lasting habits like consistency and networking which are the main reasons I would encourage someone to do that.

Disrupt: Do you believe we will ever go back to the way things used to be?

Moe Rock: No, there has been far too much already invested in dealing with this problem of COVID19 for the ship to suddenly change directions. This is going to be a part of our lives for the better part of the next several years so the question will be are we going to embrace it and adapt or resist it and live in denial. I’m not saying that our general day to day life will certainly be impacted by this indefinitely but I am saying from a business, investing and liability standpoint things will certainly never be the same.

Disrupt: You were hosting an event last year that featured Bill Gates as a speaker, what was that moment like for you and what other events do you have lined up?

Moe Rock: it was great to have an opportunity to speak with the VP of Microsoft Jeff Ma and to have a message sent in from Bill Gates. Anyone that is that influential being a part of something you work on is special and a testament to the great people I work with. As far as events we do have one a few days away that is presented by the Los Angeles Tribune  and features Kevin Harrington from Shark Tank, Lisa Nichols, Joe Vitale from The Secret, Sharon Lechter author of RIch Dad, Poor Dad  and many other household names in the business and entertainment world. Very excited to continue to create digital and hybrid events to allow tens of thousands of people attending to lead their lives mentally, physically, relationally and financially.

Disrupt: What other projects can we expect from you in the near future?

Moe Rock: The audiobook version of “Lead by Example” is being released on Audible which is very exciting as it allows me to spread my message of gratitude and leadership to more people. I have other creative projects that are in the works as well.

Disrupt: Where can people best follow you to stay up to date?

Moe Rock: My instagram or official website.

Disrupt: Thank you very much for being with us before you end this interview. Can you please share one book you can recommend our readers to check out?

Moe Rock: It was my pleasure to be with you. meditations by Marcus Aurelius.
