Jennifer Eden, Co-Founder of Tampon Tribe, on the Importance of Transparency as a Sustainable Brand

2 min read

Jennifer Eden, the co-founder of period care company Tampon Tribe, embodies what it means to be an entrepreneur in the sustainable realm. Although the path was not always easy, Jennifer stuck true to not only her values but also her passions. After she and her business partner Gaby Alves came to the United States, they were devastated by the amount of trash that littered the beaches they frequented in the Los Angeles area. While they had an underlying passion for women’s health, they also cared deeply for the environment. Jennifer and Gaby knew they could combine these two loves into one sustainable company. And right then, Tampon Tribe was born.

Tampon Tribe boasts a wide range of different quality period care products with a diverse and inclusive ideology in mind. The brand focuses on providing its customers access to sustainable and organic products that are good for their bodies and the environment. “We are working with our manufacturers to improve the products that are on the market to keep them more sustainable to ensure that we’re using organic cotton, when possible,” Jennifer explains. She states that being a sustainable company, it is important to be transparent with your audience and provide them information on what they are purchasing. Ingredients, as well as the manufacturing process, should always be shared. This equips your customer base with the knowledge they need to make an informed buying decision.

Jennifer notes that their transparency with their customer base is what sets them apart, “We don’t compromise on our assortment of products when it comes to being organic, plastic-free, toxin-free and benefiting the environment and bodies. It’s something that is at the core of who Tampon Tribe is as a brand.” Jennifer marks that there has been a shift with period care products, with more women caring about what ingredients and materials are being used. Consumers are demanding transparency with period care companies and many other companies in general, and Jennifer has always been listening. She notes that companies are now having to update their packaging to reflect what is truly in their products, “They are starting to change their packaging now to reflect that. Consumers can be more aware of the products they’re using.” The transparency that the Tampon Tribe has provided with their customer base has proven to be successful and is something the company plans to continue to do while they continue to innovate new products. At the company’s core, Jennifer stresses that everything each human does has an impact regardless of how small. Their products are plastic-free, hypoallergenic, and recyclable. All products are free of toxins, harsh chemicals, dyes, and chlorine bleach. Better for bodies and the world.

Tampon Tribe, which originated as a subscription service for tampons, now has made a wide range of products available, including pads, pantyliners, and menstrual cups. This week after years of laboratory research, they announced the launch of their newest product, period panties they have named Ashers. Utilizing the latest in modern textile technology, the Ashers blend four layers of leak-proof, moisture-wicking, and fast-absorbing woven-organic threads to create the thinnest period, pee-leak and post-partum undies available. The period panties do not use any chemicals in the absorbency process. The fabric is treated with SilverClear, a water-based, EPA-approved anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-odor solution to keep you feeling fresh all day.

In the near future, Jennifer and Gaby hope to continue developing new products and expanding their customer reach to make organic and plastic-free, sustainable period care accessible to all.
