Meet Art Morrison III, the Entrepreneur Who Is Changing What Private Equity Means to Millennials

2 min read

Millennials are leading the way when it comes to changing the world, and that goes for the investment world as well. While many millennials may have felt like they are too young or don’t have enough money to participate in private equity, the times are changing. Former professional basketball player, author, coach, and serial entrepreneur Art Morrison III wants to talk about what private equity means to millennials.

A general definition of private equity essentially means that one has ownership or an interest in an entity organization etc. that is not publicly listed or traded on the stock market. Generally high net worth individuals will make purchases of stocks in private companies or buy enough to take control of public companies and turn them private, taking them off stock exchanges. Private equity requires direct investment, often with significant investment capital, leading to the industry being dominated by those with very large amounts of wealth.

Art has a vested interest in real estate and wants to help others reach the same level of success that he has. He wants to show others that they can play the private equity game, even if they don’t come from deep pockets of established wealth. Investing in real estate early is one of the best ways he sees to build wealth and achieve financial freedom. Art knows from his own experience that this is possible. In his first two years in real estate, he did over 2.5 million in transactions and was a millionaire by age 30 all by leveraging private equity and group economics.

“Today, real estate is one of the best investments you can make, and the most ideal type of ‘debt’ one can incur due to the low mortgage rates and appreciating collateral. By combining debt with private equity aka OPM (other people’s money) you can 10x your buying power!” says Art Morrison III.

Art does not just want to change people’s minds, he wants to change the industry, making private equity something millennials embrace and can build for themselves.

“Our goal is to break into the private equity and high-level private syndication real estate industry without putting on a suit. It’s almost like an anti-wall street narrative. “Tech meets real estate” swagger. Basically, showing everyone, you can do commercial real estate just like the super-wealthy do, all while wearing a Mark Zuckerberg outfit. Additionally, we want to emphasize that anyone can do it. So instead of settling for wholesaling or becoming a realtor, you can actually dive into the world of private equity even as a beginner.” Art Morrison III. “Money management and team management are strengths that good entrepreneurs have so if you’re intentional about how you form your real estate company you can essentially skip all of the beginner paths that everyone is taking.”

Art is CEO of United Home Relief, where he and his team help investors take that first step into the world of real estate investing. As he explains “Every real estate empire started with one investment.” His program is meant to help everyone, even those with poor or no credit get started growing capital, experiencing ownership, and playing the private equity game.

Art did not have an easy childhood, his father was in and out of prison, and he moved around a lot in high school, making it hard to focus on his passion for basketball. He overcame many challenges to play college basketball, even landing a scholarship with a Division 2 school. After graduation, determined to make it to the big leagues, and posing as his own agent, Art wrote over 3,000 teams. The persistence paid off and Art played professional basketball for several years. After that he took a leap into the business world and entrepreneurship, building up a youth basketball training organization, as well as other businesses. Now, along with buying, flipping, and renting homes, he is committed to opening up the path to private equity and wealth to all demographics.
