What’s up Stoney Boy! How are you?
“Doing well! Excited for this interview, thank you for asking.
1) How did you come by your stage name?
I came by my stage name in high school, i played sports and my football and basketball coach would yell “Stoney” across the hallways and when i made my Snapchat i came up with Stoney Boy. So, it just kinda stuck since I was 14.
2) When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize?
I discovered my love for music when i was about 5. My dad was in a band and I loved listening to music so I credit him.
3) To whom or what do you accredit your style of music creation to?
I credit my style of music to my dad’s rock band, Travis Scott, and Jack harlow. All pioneers in the industry, that’s what I’m trying to be.
4) On your current single, how did you come up with the concept?
The concept for my current single just came to me. I generally like to freestyle my tracks so i can just be locked into that moment and just ride the beat. I love to get a feel for the beat and i let it take me wherever it takes me.
5)What are some of your greatest challenges and your greatest attributes when it comes to making music?
Greatest challenge is that I’m too hard on myself. So sometimes it’s hard to make something that I’m in love with. It’s a blessing and a curse to be my biggest critique. My biggest attributes when it comes to making music is the mixing part, making the song and being my biggest critique. With me being my biggest critique i know I’ll only put out quality music.
6) Are you the best at what you do?Nowhere near it.
Not yet at least.
7) What are your plans in the near future as far as music goes after the release of this new single?
Plans for the future include shooting a music video and doing a lot of paid promo. It’s time to get my name out there and let the world hear what they’ve been missing. Basically just pushing a bunch of content is the goal.
8) Is there anyone you’d like to thank or shout-out who may have helped you with completing the new single?
Shoutout to my roommate zaii for giving me a place to live, shout-out to my homies for always believing in me, shout-out to my parents for the unconditional love, and shout-out to the haters that wish I would’ve never came this far
9) What music advice would you give to your younger self?
Just release something, practice different flows and melodies. Different tones and pitches with your voice. Promo promo promo promo!!!!
10) What suggestions/advice do you have for other artists like yourself?
Man just believe, fall in love with the grind. Stop thinking so much big picture, take it day by day and control what you can in the moment. Play your cards right with content, and promotion and good things are bound to happen. All the overnight success stories aren’t really overnight anymore, they’ve been doing it for a while. Connect with artists and people in your city too. Show them you’re a cool down to earth person who’s not too good for anyone.
