Toronto Clothing Startup Overcame The Pandemic: Jed North

You would be hard-pressed to find a fitness influencer who does not know the brand Jed North. Created by Jed Jin and located in Markham, Ontario, Jed North Apparel has become known in the fitness community for its affordable sportswear and athleisure clothing. What started as a small business operating from his parent’s garage has blossomed into multiple companies operating out of a giant warehouse offering over 1700 different products.
Oversaturated with low barriers to entry, Jed Jin has succeeded in finding a footing in the very competitive fitness market. He has stood out from the rest and one thing he is doing differently is his focus on influencer marketing. Pre-pandemic, Jed North hosted multiple team events flying over 10 athletes worldwide to create content in Toronto. This huge undertaking required 4 photographers and a team of 10 people to organize and handle the logistics of the day. It’s a balanced relationship where influencers and the brand both gain from being part of the Jed North family.The purpose of these events was not only to take photoshoots for their website and Instagram campaigns but to foster a sense of community and family with the influencers.

This very culture has made Jed North stand out from its competitors. With an influencer program of over 600 influencers, Jed North continuously strives to find new up and coming talent in the industry. It’s a balanced relationship where influencers and the brand both gain from being part of the Jed North family. Athlete Jordan Strickland has stated, “Over the years not only has the brand grown to extreme heights but the quality of the clothing keeps getting better and better. I’m so thankful for where Jed North has helped me take my career and am so thankful to be part of such an awesome team!”

With Covid 19 and the global shift to working remotely, Jed North has tackled these
challenges head-on. No longer able to conduct their own photoshoots and team events,they were able to outsource these duties to photographers and models in other parts of the world. Athlete Jordan Strickland has stated, “Over the years not only has the brand grown to extreme heights but the quality of the clothing keeps getting better and better.They have found that working from home has made them even more efficient, “We’ve had to get creative. It was difficult but we’re getting more done with less,” says one employee on overcoming the pandemic.
